Nephro/Uro Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures offer minimally invasive treatment for kidney, urinary, and dialysis-related conditions. These include PCN with Stenting for urinary obstruction, Fistuloplasty for blocked dialysis fistulas, Central Venoplasty for narrowed central veins, Varicocele Embolization, and Prostate Artery Embolization for benign prostatic hypertrophy. These procedures help improve organ function, relieve symptoms, and support quicker recovery with less discomfort.
PCN With Stenting
Percutaneous Nephrostomy (PCN) with ureteric stenting is a minimally invasive and image-guided procedure performed to relieve blockage in the urinary tract and restore the normal flow of urine from the kidneys to the bladder. Commonly indicated in conditions such as kidney stones, ureteric strictures, tumors, or infections causing urinary obstruction, the procedure helps reduce pain, prevent kidney damage, and preserve renal function. At the Nephro/Uro Interventional Radiology Department, PCN with stenting is performed using advanced imaging techniques to ensure precision, safety, and faster recovery, offering patients an effective alternative to conventional surgical intervention.
Fistuloplasty
Fistuloplasty is a minimally invasive technique that treats blockage or narrowing of a dialysis fistula, which is the blood vascular access utilized for dialysis treatment. Using imaging guidance, a tiny balloon is introduced and inflated inside the restricted region to increase blood flow and restore fistula function. This approach allows patients to continue their dialysis treatment while reducing swelling and pain and avoiding the need for significant surgery.
Central venoplasty
Central venoplasty is a minimally invasive treatment that opens restricted or obstructed major veins in the chest or neck, which can disrupt blood flow. To improve circulation, a small balloon is inserted through a catheter and inflated inside the narrowed vein under image guidance. It is typically used in patients who have dialysis access issues, arm or facial edema, or obstructed central veins. The method restores normal blood flow, reduces swelling and discomfort, and improves the performance of dialysis fistulas without requiring major surgery.
Varicocele embolization
Varicocele embolization is a minimally invasive surgery for treating swollen veins in the scrotum, which can cause pain, edema, and infertility in males. Using image guidance, a small tube is inserted through a blood vessel to block the abnormal veins and redirect blood flow to healthy veins. The method requires no significant surgery, causes little discomfort, and improves symptoms, comfort, and fertility while allowing for a speedier recovery.
Prostate artery embolization
Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE) is a minimally invasive treatment for treating enlarged prostate (Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy/BPH). This procedure includes using small particles that are injected into the blood arteries that supply the prostate, reducing its size and improving urinary symptoms such as trouble passing urine, frequent urination, poor urine flow, and getting up many times at night to urinate. The operation is carried out using a little catheter rather than major surgery, allowing patients to recuperate faster, with less pain and a shorter hospital stay.
